Traditionally the last day of summer camp has the least amount of kids, and this year was no different. However, standing high on that picnic table I could not stop thinking of all the kids who had come through our back door this summer. They watched our camp spider eat crickets, learned a dozen or so different camp songs, and had so much fun that many wished camp would never end. Well with nine weeks behind us and school time ahead of us, it had to. The great thing about camp though is it never really goes away. For me it is in the camp songs that are stuck in my head. For others it may be the funny jokes that only friends from camp understand, and for others... The truth is camp is super awesome, and there is only 9 months between now and then. So I better get back to work, and I better see you all at summer camp next summer. So from all of us at Da Vinci Summer Day Camp, good luck at school, and we'll see you at camp...next year.Monday, August 17, 2009

LAST lock-in

No those are not ghosts. Those are teens gathered around our campfire at our last lock-in. I was unable to be at Fridays robotic celebration. However, I did come back for our last lock-in, and of course it was again a great time marshmallows, crazy kids, and staying up til 2:30 am to Play Pathfinder RPG. We had such a great time. I know I will miss it. It is a really neat thing to get to spend time with a group of teenagers, and get to see their personalities shine through at camp. This was a new thing for us, and one I know we will continue. Thanks teens I had a wonderful time!

Week #7- Wild West

Luckily I was able to pull these two cowpokes away from all the fun they were having learning to boot scoot, and boogie. If I couldn't I would not have had a picture for this crazy week of roping riding and playing games that were a lot of fun. I was so glad that our guest speaker Mrs. Shields even brought out her horses Tom & Samsung. Traditionally week 7 at camp is hard because everyone is so tired, but we sidled on up and road through. Thanks for having fun at camp, and thank you cowpokes for making it great . YE-HA!

Week #6- YO ho a pirates life for me

Although my camera wasn't that great at taking these pictures you can clearly tell we had a great week. We had to make some switches with some staff ailments, but we had our first ever Sink or Float competition, another great dress like a pirate day and although the evil Pirate Capt. Forkfist showed up he was foiled again by Capt. Barbeau and the kids. What an amazing week it is like we are just hitting the best stuff as we go longer in the summer. I know I am feeling it. I hope you join as we finish up strong for the summer. See you at camp.Friday, July 17, 2009
Week #5- Myths and Legends
This week we had to keep the Greek fires burning, with myths and legends and a TOGA party on Friday. That isn't all though we had fairy tales, Olympic events and a heca-lot of fun. Each group cracked myths, and created their own tall tales. it was a week of mythological proportions. Thanks and see you next week at camp.Friday, July 3, 2009
Week #3 - Space/ Final Frontier
What a great week at camp. We had aliens, moon landings and Jedi masters. Of course we ended the week with our world famous hot dog grill out. It was the first time ever that we also had parents hang out and watch our silly talent show. With kids singing songs from camp, and Taylor Swift. Crazy right? Well, if you think this sounds like fun we do have some openings later. So sign- up for camp.

Week #2 Renaissance, and Knights of the Round Table

Another fun week, once again we filled up camp and the fun never stopped. This week we featured our chess tournament and had a medieval costume contest. We had groups create their own dragons, and discuss the inventions of Leonardo DaVinci. I even had a chance to wear my kilt. Then we ended the week with our famous hot dog roast, and we kept the teens over night for our first ever DaVinci Summer Camp lock in. What a week...Shoo. Let's do it again...onward to week three!
